Chand Baori

Originally constructed as a giant artificial reservoir to combat the arid conditions in that party of India, Chand Baori is one of the largest stepwells in the world. Built in either the 9th 10th century, the well starts at ground level and goes down almost 13 stories to reach the water level. The 3500 carved stone steps are there to allow people to reach the water level as it increases or decreases.
